  • Make a list of ways you might help your employees provide excellent service even when chaos erupts.
  • Have a meeting with them and gather feedback on your ideas.
  • Tweak and implement the solutions that come from that meeting.

Play with other children; team-wide networking to grow your business

NetworkingWe always encourage our children to play nice with the other children (or if you don’t have kids, I’m sure you remember your mother telling you to be nice and share.) Why do we do that? Because we want them to develop good social skills and learn to get along with a variety of different personalities in many different situations. It’s good for them. We recognize that in order to help them become socially adept we have a responsibility to teach them while they are young.

Fast forward to today. You’re no longer worried about teaching your children how to get along with others. Your entire focus now is on growing your business and one of the ways you do that is to network – through your chamber of commerce, local development association, Rotary and any number of other random opportunities that present themselves every day. You know that the skills your mother taught you through play are what help you to maneuver the networking minefield and leave the playground with a new, potentially lucrative, friend.
